The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (raa)
(AL
Hajj Abdul Karim Ilyas Muhammad)
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad
(HWON), born Elijah Poole was the messenger sent to forewarn the people of the
coming of the REFORMER. One thing must be stressed; Elijah Muhammad (HWON) was
not a Prophet as many thought him to be. He was a person who announced and
proclaimed significant and important news. He was a Herald (a person or thing
that comes before to announce or give teachings of what is to follow). Before
we could understand this and accept the teachings of what was to come, we had
to first be aware and awaken from the spell that we were placed under by the Jahcubite
(un-godly Jew).
His intention was to awaken the
Nubian/Bilalian (Black People) as to who he is, what his true name is, where he
came from, why he is here and most important, what his destiny is. He taught us
how to develop business enterprises, and was successful in organizing fifteen
different business ventures. The list included a farm, bank, bakeries, dress
shops and grocery stores. These businesses supplied groceries, meats, baked
goods, clothing and well-cooked meals, not only to Muslims, but to all African
Americans in the United
States at very reasonable prices.
The Lost and Found Nation of Islaam
in the West also provided a wide range of jobs for Muslims and non Muslims.
These included writers, artists, clerks, lawyers, bankers, doctors,
accountants, etc. He taught us of the devil's (grafted mentality) religion, and
spoke of the special mark that will distinguish the righteous from the ones who
are Coverers of the Truth (Kaafir). The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (raa) taught
of the dangers of eating pork and the harm it does to your body. He made us
aware of who forced us to eat the swine, and he taught us of the 144,000 and
the hereafter.
Who exactly was the Honorable
Elijah Muhammad (raa)? The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (Elijah Poole)
was born on October 7, 1897 in Bold Springs near Sandersville,
Georgia, a very small town
in the middle of Macon and Atlanta. He was born to Wali (Willie) and
Marie Poole who lived in a sharecroppers shack. Elijah was 6th of the 13 Poole
children. He was name after the Prophet Ilyas, Elijah (PBUH) whose spirit
returned to earth to dwell in the personage of John the Baptist, Yahya (PBUH).
One day in the 1900s Elijah decided
to take a shortcut through the woods to get home. When he was walking he heard
some people coming so he jumped behind a bush. He saw 3 white men have a black
man in chains, then the white men beat-up the black man. They took a rope out,
hanged him, and left him there to rot. Elijah thought that was a very sick game
to torture people?
Because things weren't going so
well in Bold Springs in 1903 his father decided to move the family to Weona,
Georgia near Cordele, Georgia when Elijah was 6 years old. In 1911 Elijah left
school after completing the 5th grade and went to work as a field hand and a
sawmill worker. He exhibited leadership qualities at a very early age. At age
fourteen, he was supervisor over a crew of men who were much older than he.
Marriage and Family Life
As time went by Elijah grew into a
handsome young man. Elijah met Clara Evans at the church his father preached at
on Sundays. He went to see Clara and her family from 6 to 9:00 on Sunday
evenings to see how they were doing. Finally Elijah asked Clara to marry him
and was married on May 2, 1917. Soon the newlywed's family began to grow. On
February 3, 1921 Elijah and Clara's first son, Emmanuel Poole was born. The
family was growing even more now. During the 1920s 3 more children joined the Poole family.
When Elijah was working for his employers he
got on quite fine with his employers. Until one day in 1923 Poole's
nightmare came to pass, one of his employers accosted him. After that incident
with his employer that same year he and his family moved to Detroit. He worked in several factories until
the Great Depression left him jobless. In 1929 Poole
was among those who lost their jobs and stood on relief lines.
The Supreme Wisdom
In 1930, the Mystic Fard Muhammad
Ali (W. Fard Muhammad) was teaching
his brand of Islaamic Mysticism designed especially to attract the African
American to Islaam. In 1931 Elijah was introduced to Wallace Fard Muhammad, the
founder of the Black Muslim Movement through his wife Clara. It was in the
early fall of 1931, when the Honorable Elijah Muhammad first heard that there
was a man teaching "Islaam" who was going by the name of Mr. W.D.
Fard. He heard this from his wife, Clara. They were then living in Detroit, Michigan.
Clara’s excitement stimulated his interest.
Although he had the wrong idea of
Islaam, at that time, as he thought it was a "heathen religion,” he
was told enough that he wanted to meet the Teacher and hear His teachings.
There was something deeper in him that caused him to want to see and hear this
man. Ever since he was a little boy—after he learned to read and write—he was a
reader of the Bible. He only went to the fourth grade of school, as his father
needed him to work in the fields. His father was a sharecropper.
He was not at all lazy, but when he
was a little boy, he said, he would crawl under a house or a barn, and read the
Bible, as often as he could. He was drawn to its contents.
Now it’s September 1931. He was told that Mr. W.D. Fard was
teaching a few people in a basement. He went there but did not see Him. He was
told the man was there earlier.
His determination to see Him
intensified. He went to other meetings held there and elsewhere, but continued
to miss Him until the night of September 22nd. He was eager to see and hear Mr.
Fard because he had a strong feeling about this man’s identity. He had quietly
grown to expect the man whom his understanding of the Bible told him he should
expect, "right about that time." He felt this was the One he was
expecting, prophesied in the Bible.
As soon as he saw and heard Mr.
Wallace D. Fard, he knew Him to be the One the world had been expecting for the
last 2,000 years. It came to him that the man he beheld was the very man
expected by the prophets and others, who would come in, or under, many good
names: Jesus included.
That which Mr. W.D. Fard said and
did, at that meeting, convinced the Honorable Elijah Muhammad of the truth of
His identity. Mr. Muhammad would later say to his followers and to the world
that the first thing that struck him about Mr. Fard was that His words and
actions tallied with the Bible’s prophecy about what the coming One would say
and do on His arrival.
Mr. Fard began speaking on the
origin of things. He went on to teach of the measurements of the Earth, its
weight, the distances between the Earth, the sun and other planets. He spoke of
their rotation, measurements and so on. He could not but compare what he was listening
to, with the prophecy of the coming of God in the book of Habakkuk and
elsewhere in the Bible.
Mr. W.D. Fard said much about the
nature and history of Black and White people. He spoke about the future,
including the coming judgment of this world and of the new world to be
established after this world’s power was broken.
He said that Mr. Fard Muhammad went
on to say that we were not in our own names, that we were in the names of White
people, that He had come to give us our own names (names of God and our
people). As he listened, Elijah said to himself: "This has got to be the
man."
When the meeting was over, he got
in line with others to shake the Speaker’s hand. When his turn came, Elijah
told Him that He was the One Whom the Bible’s prophets foresaw coming along
about that time, about 2,000 years after Jesus, or the Son of Man.
Almost simultaneously, Mr. Fard
Muhammad looked around to see who else heard that, and then looked at Elijah a
little sternly. His smile followed the look. He bent His head close to him; put
one hand on his shoulder and the other on his forehead. Pressing His mouth
against Elijah’s ear, He whispered:
"Yes, I am that One. But who
else knows that but yourself?" He told him (Elijah) that he should keep
quiet about this. He would let him know when to make that known. Then, gently,
He nudged Elijah away and began talking with the others nearby. Excitedly, he
left the meeting, telling his wife (Clara) and his brother (Charlie) that:
"This was the man!" However, his wife and brother did not see what he
saw. Nor did the others.
A short time later, he wrote Mr. W.
D. Fard a letter. He told Him what he couldn’t say in the public. His Teacher
said openly to his wife (Clara), during a meeting, that her husband could start
teaching. So, he started teaching where he lived, in Hamtramck,
which is a section of Detroit.
He began teaching that this man,
Mr. W. D. Fard, was the answer to the Bible’s prophecy of the coming of Jesus.
He boldly declared that the Son of Man was present. But he did this within
limits. There were limits to his understanding at that time. And, in a very
short time, His Teacher would set limits on how far he could go into the truth
of His (Master Fard Muhammad’s) identity. In fact, he was told by his
Teacher not to talk too much about Him while He was present. He could do that
after He was gone.
That He (Master Fard Muhammad)
was God, Himself, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad believed to a great degree,
even before He departed. Meanwhile, others took Him to be a prophet or, at the
least, a very wise man. (The Honorable Imam W. Deen Mohammed has explained
that W. F. Muhammad was only an instrument of God not God himself.)
He told His servant not to give
"the little baby" (us) "meat," but "milk"
instead, until time. Meanwhile, He (God) would feed the man He chose to be His
Messenger "meat" and plenty of it during the next three-plus years.
In 1931 Elijah Poole changed his
name to Elijah Muhammad; his wife Clara changed her name to Clara Muhammad.
Elijah was Fard's friend and associate. Elijah came off of the relief lines and
in 1933 He was appointed chief minister and head of Temple
#1 in Detroit.
In the month following their first
meeting, which was October (1931), He paid him a visit at his humble home. That
began His teaching of His servant, over the next 40 months; night and day;
seven days a week. At one of his visits to the home of the Honorable Elijah
Muhammed and Sister Clara, he told them to write the name “Warith” (inheritor)
on the back of their door for they would have a son and to give him that name..
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told
us that he and his Teacher would often sit from the early part of the night and
continue to sunrise and beyond. He constantly taught him things of Islam, of
that which was before, and of what was to come. There were times when Mr. Fard
carried Elijah just outside of town in His Chevy Coupe. They would sit many
hours while He taught His pupil many facts about the universe. It’s interesting
to see that the scientists of this world more and more bear witness to many of
the scientific facts that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad made known years before
they knew and publicized these scientific facts for themselves.
One day, Master Fard Muhammad gave Elijah
a copy of the Holy Qur’an in Arabic. He couldn’t read it. Then He gave him an
Arabic English copy. He had a wise, immediate and far-seeing purpose, in first
giving His servant a Holy Qur’an, which at that time, he couldn’t read. In
during this he wanted to emphasize to Elijah the need to learn Qur’anic Arabic.
Afterwards, He lined him up with
about two thirds of it (the Holy Qur’an) to study, although He taught him the
understanding of the whole book. He also taught him the true understanding of
the Bible. He also gave him the titles of 104 books. When the Honorable Elijah
Muhammad asked Him if these books were in the library there in Detroit, He answered
"No." He did not know, at that time, that those books were in Washington, D.C.,
in the Congressional Library. But his Teacher did. A few writers have written
that Master Fard Muhammad made use of a few of the 104 books while He was in Detroit and Chicago.
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad
said that what he was teaching us was in preparation for that wisdom Allah
promised to reveal at a certain time. That’s the wisdom that none has ever
seen, heard or even imagined, that was not to be revealed until now. The wisdom
that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was referring too is the wisdom we would be
introduced to by the Mujaddid.
A part of the overall course of
study the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was given by Master Fard Muhammad was that
which he did not study until his Teacher had departed. He gave him a list of
104 books as stated before. He would later begin to read them, or the parts he
was to read, when he began to live in Washington,
D.C., while on the run from a
death plot.
He said that most of them were on
aspects of Muhammad’s history and Islam. When I reflected on that, I thought
that the path that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was to travel was to use the
footsteps of the Prophet to guide him in establishing the faith of Islam in the
United States of America.
So, as Prophet Muhammad walked and worked in Arabia, so Elijah Muhammad, his
companions, his followers would work for the establishment of Islam in America.
Before Prophet Muhammad PBUH)
departed this life, he said to his followers, ‘If you follow this Qur’an and
my Sunnah, you will never deviate from the straight path of God.’ The
Sunnah represents his actions in accord with the directions that he received
from Allah in the establishment of the Qur’an and Islam. So, by Master Fard
Muhammad giving the Honorable Elijah Muhammad the Qur’an and giving him the
footsteps of the Prophet, it seems to me that He was saying to His Messenger
that the path that you will follow, if you follow this book—Qur’an—and the
steps that the Prophet was guided to make in establishing the faith, plus the
wisdom that I’m giving you of these books, you will never deviate and those who
follow you will never deviate from the straight path of God. Of all of the men
whom Jews, Christians and Muslims today refer to as prophets of God, or Allah,
the lives of none of them have come down to us in greater detail than that of
Muhammad ibn Abdullah, through whom the Holy Qur’an was revealed, around 1,400
years ago.
There were specific reasons for his
Teacher (W. D. Fard) giving him that combination of materials to study. Among
those reasons were that He was teaching him more of himself, others, and that
which was to come, beyond what He taught him before He departed. On the leave
of Master Fard Muhammad, His student said that He began to emphasize specific
things he could expect to come to pass. And, He went deeper into what he should
do to try and make us qualified to escape the doom of this evil world. He was
taught how to reform us and make us acceptable to the Islamic people. Upon the
departure of Abdul Wali Farad Muhammad Ali (W. D. Fard) in 1934 he established
the Lost and Found Nation of Islaam in the West under his leadership.
0n May 8th, 1942 the Honorable
Elijah Muhammad was arrested by federal agents for failing to participate in
the military draft for World War II. In 1946 He won his release from prison. In
the summer of 1947 He opened a combination grocery, bakery, and restaurant at
3117 South Wentworth in Chicago,
Ill... Elijah Muhammad welcomed
Malcolm X (Abdul Malik Shabazz) in the Nation of Islam, and he bought a winter
home in Phoenix.
On August 12th, 1972 Elijah's wife
Clara dies at the age of 72. After the death of his wife the Honorable Elijah Muhammad didn't make any public or media appearances, if he did they were very
rare. He isolated himself from the outside world at his home. On February
26th', 1975 Elijah Muhammad died of heart failure at Mercy
Hospital in Chicago, he was 77 years old
The inspirations and guiding forces
behind him were none other than great persons such as; Noble Drew Ali, Marcus
Garvey, and his mentor the aforementioned Mystic Satirist W. F. Muhammad. These
individuals had no real exposure in their respective lifetime to make enduring
or impressionable economic, social or political impacts that would aid the
African American.
However, the inclusion value and
insight of these individuals were necessary to launch and organization such as
the "Nation of Islaam" in a time when things were so bleak in terms
of the economic status of the country. The difficult job of raising you, the
mentally dead of this world, was to start. This was and still is the main job
that must be tackled. Many Arabic terms were introduced to the African American
(Black) community by Mr. Elijah Muhammad. For most of us, Black people born in
the United States,
the first time we ever heard the words, "As-Salaam-Alaikum" was when
in the company of followers of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, prior to 1975. Of
course, many may have first heard that expression when in the company of Imaam
Mohammed, the successor to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. There is no doubt,
however, that the man who is most responsible for making this greeting first
known in the African American community is the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad
(HWON) began the task of reformation.
NOW IT IS THE
JOB OF THE REFORMER TO PICK UP THE BALL AND TAKE IT EVEN FURTHER. THE JOB OF
THE REFORMER IS TO EXPLAIN THE TEACHINGS OF MASTER W. F. MUHAMMAD AND THE
HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD (TWON) AND GIVE THE FORMER AFRICAN (BLACK MAN IN
AMERICAN) HIS SPIRITUAL HERITAGE: HIS NATURAL AN ONLY LANGUAGE, ARABIC, HIS
PROPER WA Y OF LIFE, FOLLOWING THE SUNNAH (EXAMPLE) OF ALL THE PROPHETS OF
ALLAHU SUBHAANAHU WA TA'ALA (THE GLORIOUS AND MOST HIGH CREATOR) PBUT, THE
RELIGION OF AL ISLAAM AND THE COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF ALL OF THE SCRIPTURES
OF ALLAHU SUBHAANAHU WA TA'ALA.
When the Honorable Elijah Muhammad
(HWON) left his people, they were without proper guidance and way to function.
They were in a state of confusion and void, until the appointed time when the MUJADDIDUN
(Reformer) would come to them and give them the understanding they needed
"Under deceit, the weak minded—who have no understanding … are
made prey in the hands of the arch deceiver. This will bring about war as a
showdown between the God of righteousness and the God of unrighteousness.... It
already has begun."
—The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, from “Fall of America,” page 190.
"We have the greatest opportunity of any nation of the past, but
this opportunity is on condition that we accept Allah (God) and His Religion of
Islam (Peace) which was the religion of His Prophets, including Jesus. Islam
offers love, unity, friendship, wealth, infinite wisdom, knowledge, and
understanding ....”
-“The Opportunity”
-Mr. Muhammad on the word Salaam-
"The first thing that I would like to
acquaint you with is that greeting that you heard coming from us,
‘As-Salaam-Alaikum.’ You heard that word. You want to know what it means.
That’s an Arab word, or the Arabic/Arabians word or greetings in their own
language. It’s an Arabian—it’s an Arab word; means peace. That’s what it
actually means. It means ‘peace to you, brother.’ And I think that that is a
very good greeting to use. To say ‘Peace’ to a people who have not been able to
enjoy peace for at least, to their knowledge, and their history, four hundred
(400) years. It is the very greeting of God, Almighty.
"You find in your Bible, even the
prophets of old, Jesus himself, it was their greeting. It was the disciples of
Jesus greeting word, ‘peace.’ Right? So why should not we use the word, in its
original language, or the greetings. We should say it in the original language,
which is ‘As-Salaam-Alaikum.’
Let us again remember that we have not had a
greeting between us that means peace of what the slave masters have taught us.
The slave masters have taught our fathers, [and it] came down through their
children to say, ‘Good Morning,’ ‘Good Evening,’ ‘Good Afternoon,’ ‘Good
Night,’ and ‘Hello,’ ‘How are you?’ or ‘Hi so and so,’ or ‘Hey so and so and
so.’ That is not a good and intelligent greeting.
"It sometimes proves untrue. Even ‘Good
Morning’ sometimes is not a good morning. It’s sometime too hot for us; too
cold for us, or sometimes the weather is too bad for us. In fact about it, we
have to be careful to remember when we have actually enjoyed a good morning.
But yet, the greeting of the Christian world is ‘Good Morning.’"
There are Christians who also use ‘As-Salaam-Alaikum,’ but they are
using the word as a pass word, or greetings, in a secret society, known as the
Moslem Shriners. Moslem Shriners use the same greetings because they represent
themselves as being Moslems, as we are. And they study the Holy Qur’an. And
they profess to believe in the religion that we call Islam—the religion of
peace. But they commercialize on that religion. I’m sorry, brother Shriner, but
my subject is ‘Truth.’
"We must remember that we should teach our children in such way
that they too may be able to teach their children the truth. And truth banishes
everything that hinders the unity and peace of the Brotherhood. As the sun rose
this morning, it banished all the confusion that we had last night in the dark
trying to find our way around. Right?
"My beloved brothers and sisters, ‘As-Salaam-Alaikum’—every one of
you should greet each other with that same greeting, As-Salaam-Alaikum. And I
will say to you, ‘Wa-Alaikum-Salaam’, meaning the same thing, ‘Peace to you,
Brother.’
"It also has a greater significance to it. Saying
‘As-Salaam-Alaikum,’ also signifies freedom, justice, equality to you, Brother.
You are my equal. You are justified as being my equal. You’re justified as
being my Brother. You and I are equal. You and I are free. I’m free and you are
free. I extend to you freedom. I extend to you justice because you are free,
justified to be my equal. My beloved brothers and sisters, it means a whole
lot."
The Honorable Elijah
Muhammad wrote in “Our Savior has arrived”:
"The Black Man in America is not an example of the Original Black
Man; for he has been used by his slave masters for four centuries in what we
call experimentation. Through the experimentation by the wicked slave masters
who were made without love or mercy for Black people, they have the Black Man
in America before the world as a wrecked, robbed, and spoiled human being
without knowledge of himself or anyone else. And he is used by the white man as
a tool for whatever purpose the white man sees fit.
"He is called a ‘Negro’ by them. The name means something dead,
lifeless, neutral (not that nor this). "They call the slave after their
own names because he is the property of the slave master until he is
redeemed—although he is a member of the Original Black Nation. "To restore
him back to his people, he must be re-educated to give him the knowledge of
self and the knowledge of those who deprived him of the knowledge of self.
"This knowledge of self will unite him onto his own kind with love of self
and kind."
We must begin at the cradle and teach our babies that they must do
something for self. They must not be like we, their fathers, who look to
the slave-master's and slave-master's children for all. We must teach
our children now with an enthusiasm exceeding that which our slave-masters used
in having our forefathers imbed the seed of dependency within us. We
must stop the process of giving our brain power, labor and wealth to our slave-master's
children. We must eliminate the master-slave relationship.
"We must educate ourselves and our children into the rich power of
knowledge which has elevated every people who have sought and used it. We
must give the benefit of our knowledge to the elevation of our people.
-The Honorable
Elijah Muhammad...Message to the Blackman
-Elijah the teacher-
Elijah Muhammad was a man few understood, not even the people who were
nearest to him. "I'm down here in
the mud," he lamented, "and nobody can see me." For 40 years
the poor man taught the same thing over and over and the only two of his
followers began to get the real message, they were Minister Louis Farrakhan,
and Imam W. Deen Mohammed. Just as Prophet Muhammad of Arabia used to enjoy his
followers recite the Holy Qur’an to him, Mr. Elijah Muhammad used to encourage
his ministers to give him their take on the things he'd taught. Mr. Muhammad would
get disappointed when, invariably, they'd recite what he'd taught them
verbatim. Only Minister Farrakhan and his son Wallace would expand the basic
doctrine to its extended implications. At such times the Messenger would clap
his hands in appreciation. "When a man gives his seed to a woman," he
once said to Minister Farrakhan, "he doesn't want her to give him back a
seed nine months later. He wants a fully developed baby."
Mr. Muhammad's
teachings were seeds that, when developed, could produce the New Islam he
prophesied would come. Once Minister Akbar Muhammad co-ordinate a project for
Minister Farrakhan, he had seven jets full of scientists fly from Chicago to
New York, so the scientists could meet Mr. Muhammad.
During the lecture phase, someone asked Mr. Muhammad a simple medical question, one that almost anyone could have answered. He declined to answer the question. Instead he brought Dr. Abdul Salaam to the podium to give an answer. In the process, Mr. Muhammad said "I'm not one of those physical scientists. I'm one of those spiritual scientists."

Instead he brought Dr. Abdul Salaam to the podium to give an answer. In the process, Mr. Muhammad said "I'm not one of those physical scientists. I'm one of those spiritual scientists."
There is no doubt that Mr. Muhammad could have answered the question. But
he chose to demonstrate that his followers were to take leadership roles in
using his principles to perfect the fields in which they had expertise. Dr.
Salaam (and others) could, ideally, revolutionize medicine with the dietary and
health principles Mr. Muhammad had seeded their minds with.
People like Joe Tex, Kool and the Gang, The Delphonics and Etta James (a
one-time follower) could transform music. Some people could spiritualize dance.
"But them Muslims didn't dance!" Someone might object. It might
surprise people that not long before his death, the Messenger told the sisters
to dance for him. Most of what I know about events inside Mr. Muhammad’s home I learned from Imam Mohammed and Minister
Farrakhan, either in public speech or, from their writings.
And Miriam the prophetess, the
sister of Aaron,
took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women
went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

--
Exodus 15:20--
Business people would one day apply Mr.
Muhammad's economic and financial ideas to create a new economic system,
replacing both capitalism and communism. Astronomers could draw upon the
cosmological concepts to revolutionize physics. I believe all this, and more,
was implied by bringing Dr. Salaam to the podium to answer a simple medical
question. As "one of those spiritual scientists," Mr. Muhammad was
ready to leave the mundane issues to his followers while he focused on guiding
the world to the New Islam. But Fate had other plans.
Mr. Muhammad never completed his Theology of
Time lecture series. He gave 18 lectures and was unable to speak on the 19th
occasion. His mission was to give the seeds for the New Islam, not to dot every
I and cross every t. "I'm a
preacher," he used to say. "My
ministers after me will be the teachers." His son Wallace represents the completion of
Mr. Muhammad’s mission as predicted by his teacher W. F. Muhammad. He would be
the one to give the symbolic 19th lecture.
--Elijah's Vision of the new Qur’an—
A few years before he died, the
Honorable Elijah Muhammad discussed a vision he'd had. In the vision, Mr.
Muhammad was walking in a valley, "humming
a little tune." He came upon a book that was written in a "new Arabic." The letters
were indented, "they had
depth." And light shined up from the letters. He could only make out
the letter Laam (L). ﻞ But he first had to learn to read Arabic.
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad never
wavered in his conviction that a new Qur’an would be revealed and that his
followers would one day practice a "New
Islam." The present Bible and Qur’an, he taught, "take us up to the Day of Judgment. We need a New Quran to take us
into the Hereafter." So, according to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad,
there would be "a third and fourth
book," one for the Christian world, one for the Arab Muslim world and "a little book God already gave
me," possibly the Nation of Islam's Problem Book. That's a lot of
books. And since that statement was made in 1972, not one new scriptural book
has reached the public. What gives? If he was talking about
a physical book, we'd have it by now. Since the book appeared in a vision and
visions are largely symbolic an analysis of the vision's symbols would appear
to be in order.
The Sacred Valley Tuwa
O Moses, surely I am your Lord, so
take off your shoes. Surely you are
in the sacred valley Tuwa.
--Holy Qur’an, Ta Ha, 20:11-12--
إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ
الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
When His
Lord called out to him in the sacred Valley of Tuwa':
--Holy Qur’an 79:16—
The Qur'anic word Tuwa is the same as
the Egyptian Tuat (Underworld). It represents the deeper subconscious regions. In
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad's vision he was humming a tune in a valley. I
believe that that represents chanting the mantra Hum -- mantra of the gunu chakra which bestows wisdom - accesses
the knowledge stored in the subconscious depths. In the Qur’an that Hum mantra
appears as the mystic letters Ha Meem. They form the mantra Haammm. Seven
surahs (representing seven chakras or elivations) begin with Ha Meem.
Ha Meem
By the Book that makes manifest!
Surely We have made it an
Arabic Quran that you may understand.
And it is surely in the Mother of
the Book with US, truly elevated,
full of wisdom.
-- Quran 43: 1 -- 4
The mother of the Book is the Akashi
Record. It is elevated because it is above the physical plane. The vision book
Mr. Muhammad saw had indented letters with light shining from their depth. The
"new" book is the same Qur’an, but with a deeper understanding, an
understanding so deep that it makes the existing scripture wholly new. The "dead letter"
understanding of Scripture is the source of all the ailments afflicting the
world. Dead letter scripture creates and reinforces racism, sexism,
imperialism, environmental pollution, spousal abuse, wars, tyranny, oppression,
economic exploitation and ... bad fashion.
In the vision, light shines from
the indented letters to indicate that the light of the New Age would come from
a deep reading and interpretation of scripture. The "new Arabic"
means that the understanding of the words in the "old" Arabic will be
wholly transformed. The language of the Mujaddid/Mahdi is returning the Arabic
to its original, highly technical meanings that were lost when spiritual study
was usurped by bureaucrats. An example is the word ummi. Because of a gross
misunderstanding of the word Muslims think Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was illiterate.
That misunderstanding has resulted in a perverse kind of pride-in-ignorance and
suspicion of intelligence in much of the Muslim world.
Those who follow the Messenger-Prophet,
the Ummi, whom they find mentioned in
the Torah and Gospel.
-- Quran 7:157
Ummi is close to umm,
"mother." Because Arabs considered women to be unintelligent, ummi
had to mean illiterate. The word actually comes from the Sumerian word umiya, a
word that means "learned in all the arts and sciences including astronomy,
math, medicine, geography," and much more. “An ummi is anything but illiterate.”
Unless a person can read Arabic he
or she is at the mercy of whoever translated the Quran they think they're
reading. They are limited to the level of the translator's understanding and
vulnerable to his biases. So in order to get to the new Arabic and new Quran,
somebody would have to learn Arabic. The problem, in the past, was that
whenever someone learned Arabic they got hooked on the language and became
wannabe pseudo-Arabs. By so doing, they disqualified themselves from being in a
position to fix the problems in the Muslim world.
Through the blessings of Allah,
Imam W. Deen Mohammed was blessed to master the Qur’anic Arabic without falling
prey too Arabism or Arab worship. The new Qur’an seen by the Imam’s father is a
new translation and commentary of the Holy Qur’an by his son the
Mujaddid/Mahdi.
The New Islaam is emerging from a
new understanding of the Bible and Holy Qur’an. The new Islaam is not a
religion as such. The new Islaam is a state of consciousness, a way of living
that the ancient Egyptians called Hotep -- an unshakeable inner place that
cannot be upset by externals. The Egyptian word Hotep (ḥtp) translates to
roughly "to be satisfied, at peace". The world can never know outer
peace until the leaders, at least, can experience, inner peace.
